PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Safe Bed Program offers short-term housing (max 30 days) and support services to individuals 18 years of age and older in a mental health and/or addiction crisis. The core services are being delivered in a safe, supportive environment to allow for psychological stabilization and management of the mental health symptoms / crisis situation.
CORE SERVICES
Upon admission, individuals receive stabilization supports including :
- Involvement of Crisis Support and Counselling Services and how they will help clients
- Information on referrals to ongoing treatment, rehabilitation, and support resources
- Assistance with daily living skills as needed (e.g., cooking, housekeeping, hygiene, budget, etc.)
- Individuals admitted are provided with meals and personal hygiene products, and have access to a shower, telephone, TV, bedroom furniture, bedding and towels.
ADMISSION CRITERIA
- 18 years of age or older
- Voluntary and agreeable to service guidelines
- Low risk of harming themselves or others
- Experiencing a mental health/addictions crisis
- Involvement with police and/or Mobile
Crisis Team (MCRRT)
- Physical health can be managed by non-medical staff
