Mental Health Counselling Program

Program description

This program provides free and confidential one-on- one counselling to individuals dealing with a wide range of mental health and psychosocial issues. Counselling services are goal oriented and a range of evidence based practices are used in working with clients.

Services Offered to Clients

  • Comprehensive evaluation of risk and therapeutic needs
  • One-on- one counselling sessions for different mental health / psychosocial issues (Ex. depression, anxiety-stress, psychosis, self-harm, sexual abuse, accidents or other traumas, grief and loss issues)
  • Defusing/debriefing group sessions to reduce the risk of post-traumatic stress after a critical incident
  • Psychiatric assessment including treatment recommendations

Eligibility Criteria

  • Individuals 16 years of age or over
  • Exhibit signs and symptoms of mental health problems

Referral Procedures

Referrals may come directly from the individual, a family member/friend or from the following service providers:

  • Emergency services and hospitals;
  • Physicians;
  • Police services;
  • Community agencies.
